    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District opens public comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) regarding construction of features of the Picayune Strand Restoration Project (PSRP). Comments are due June 12, 2020.

  • Corps of Engineers announce phased reopening of campgrounds

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District is planning a phased reopening of campsites and recreation areas closed due to COVID-19, to begin immediately. The decision to reopen each recreation area is based largely on the safety of the staff and visitors. Each lake is going through a conditions-based assessment to verify all staff can return to work safely and will have the proper personal protection equipment available. In addition, they are confirming the availability of contractors and staff who help operate and maintain the recreation areas and implementing operational changes to address COVID-19 concerns in campgrounds.
  • Corps to Open Select Facilities at Recreation Sites

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District is announcing that select facilities at district-managed sites will open Memorial Day weekend for the 2020 recreation season in alignment states’ guidelines.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District’s Corps-managed campgrounds in Kentucky will reopen June 11 in alignment with Kentucky’s Phase 2 reopening plan.
  • Corps announces Corpus Christi Ship Channel jetty repairs to begin mid-June

    CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Galveston District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today announced the start of repairs to the entrance jetty of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel located at Aransas Pass. Actual work on the project is scheduled to begin in mid-June.
  • Corps of Engineers to reopen its Savannah River recreation areas

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – Phased reopening of campgrounds and additional boat ramps at reservoirs owned and operated by the Army Corps of Engineers along the Savannah River will take place May 15 and May 18, 2020. Playgrounds, beaches, shelters and life jacket loaner stands will remain closed until further notice. Visitor centers at all three projects will remain closed to the public.
  • Burnsville Lake Closed to Boating

    Beginning tomorrow, May 15, Burnsville Lake will be closed to boating until waterline repairs are made. Another posting will be made when the lake reopens. The waterline supplying recreational facilities on the Bulltown end of Burnsville Lake extends from the dam to Bulltown and is routed under water in the lake. The line is weighted to securely hold it in the original river channel.
  • Army Corps announces signing of Chief’s Report for New Jersey study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announces that Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite, USACE Commanding General and the 54th U.S. Army Chief of Engineers, has signed the Chief’s Report for the “New Jersey Beneficial Use of Dredged Material for the Delaware River Feasibility Study” — a significant milestone for the proposed project. The signing of the report advances the project to Congress for authorization.
