    PDT conducts first virtual VE study work session

    The Slope Flattening Project Delivery Team (PDT) recently conducted the first virtual value engineering (VE) study work session with team member Neal Newman, who happens to be one of only 12 certified value specialists in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

    Phillips 66 Alliance H2PL, LLC proposes to construct the Alliance Hydrogen Pipeline Project, an approximately 36 mile, 12-inch diameter hydrogen pipeline from an existing facility in Luling Louisiana to the Alliance refinery in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.

    Pheonix Global Engineering and Construction obo Jefferson Parish Department of Drainage proposes to dredge, temporary stockpile and construct the Lake Cataouatche Pump Station approximately 95 feet landward of the West Bank and Vicinity- HSDRRS Lake Cataouatche Levee.
  • Corps completes 100-bed alternate care facility in Kalispell, Montana

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, completed construction on an alternate care facility in Kalispell, Montana, May 24, two days earlier than required. The ACF also came in more than 10% under budget.

    In October 1993, the Carolina Panthers officially became the newest expansion team in the National Football League, with their home in Charlotte, North Carolina. However, they were specifically named the “Carolina” Panthers, and not the “Charlotte” Panthers, because the plan was always to embrace the entire region.
  • Future leaders during COVID-19

    The Memphis District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is known for executing many different tasks, projects and missions all at the same time. Even when COVID-19 presented itself, this district didn’t stop doing everything it’s normally charged to do. Like many other organizations around the world, the Coronavirus altered how some projects were carried out within the district; this included how the Leadership Development Program (LDP) continued on as well.
  • A look back: Marshall’s 40 years of service

    “First and foremost, what inspired me was the veterans,” Marshall said. “While serving as a purchasing agent in the Prosthetics Department of the VA, I enjoyed helping the veterans get the products, medicines, home alterations, and equipment they needed. Providing equipment for the blind and handicapped, and seeing their appreciation for the small things filled my heart with joy.  I enjoyed having input in the selection of the equipment provided, and enjoyed informing them of products or services they were unaware that they may have qualified for.”  Contract Specialist Valerie Marshall recently celebrated 40 years of federal service, so we decided to step back and take a look at how she spent those years, as we are very grateful for her service to the Memphis District as well as to this nation.
  • USACE employee receives award due to new contracting process deployed during flood efforts.

    A 25-year employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, was awarded the Omaha-Lincoln Federal Executive Association 2019, Federal Employee Leadership Award in the Managerial/Supervisor/Leader of the Year category.
  • Huntsville Center improves hazardous materials management

    Previously, many installations used other more costly user licenses, such as the Hazardous Materials Management System, or other commercial databases that required annual renewal fees to manage their HM or HW data. Licensing costs were greatly reduced with the single EESOH-MIS application.
  • Answering the Call

    In late March 2020, Army 1st Lt. Eoghan Matthews, a Soldier assigned to the U.S. Army Engineering Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Cold Region Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL), received a call. The instructions were cryptic but direct: “Pack a bag, and be ready to go somewhere in the Northeast.”

  • Mobile District Re-Opens Campgrounds

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District is very pleased to announce that our recreation area campgrounds will be re-opening for visitors, starting June 1, 2020 at five of our projects. Visitors will also be able to begin placing campsite reservations on the Recreation.gov website or smartphone app beginning June 1, 2020.
  • Corps to conduct spillway release from Table Rock Dam

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, depending on timing of rain, will be conducting a spillway release from Table Rock Dam, at 12 p.m. on May 30.
  • USACE-Albuquerque District to expand phased reopening of lakes

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Albuquerque District announced May 29, 2020, that two USACE-managed lakes in New Mexico (Conchas and Santa Rosa lakes) have begun a phased reopening, and the boat ramp at Abiquiu Lake will be open as of May 30.
  • Corps seeks federal authorization for port expansion project in Nome

    Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite, commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and 54th U.S. Army Chief of Engineers, approved the recommended plan for navigation improvements at the Port of Nome during a signing event today in Washington, D.C.
  • Ohae campgrounds opening Monday

    Campgrounds operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Oahe, South Dakota, project will open Monday. This will include the Beaver Creek and Hazelton Campgrounds in North Dakota.
  • Corps of Engineers expands reservations at Fort Peck Downstream and West End Campgrounds

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will open the Downstream Campground and West End Tent and Trailer Campground at the Fort Peck, Montana project for camping Monday. Both campgrounds are moving to a full reservation system to streamline site occupancy and payments for visitors and staff. The cash-less process will help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
  • Gavins Point USACE campgrounds opening Monday

    Campgrounds operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Gavins Point Project will open Monday. This will include Cottonwood and Nebraska Tailwaters campgrounds.
  • Dam Safety Day recognized in Kansas City District

    Living with dams is a shared responsibility and requires constant assessment, continuous communication and engagement with local public and emergency management agencies. The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, operates and manages 18 dams in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. Flood control serves as the primary purpose of these dams. Corps reservoirs provide many other benefits including recreation activities.
  • Corps career fair goes virtual on June 3

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District is open for business and hiring. The District will host their first-ever virtual career fair on June 3, 2020, from 10-11 a.m., to fill vacancies within the organization.
