Our Mission

 The CIO/G-6 team (e.g., HQ, support and all IT elements) delivers secure and effective IT solutions that enable the USACE team to accomplish USACE's primary missions.

USACE is a complex organization employing over 33,000 people working on hundreds of projects in locations all around the world. To be effective the USACE team needs to be in communications with access to key software applications, information and services in the office, at home and on the go.  

It is the CIO/G-6 team's responsibility to assure that USACE has the right, secure, effective, reliable and affordable IT solutions when they need them.
 

                         

Office of the Chief Information Officer / G6

USACE CIO/G-6 is comprised of the Enterprise Information Technology IM/IT service delivery team (G-6) and the Corporate Information Office (CIO) for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). We support the mission requirements of our USACE customers by delivering mission-focused IM/IT services using an enterprise service delivery model.
 

Strategic Direction

The 650+ federal employees of the Office of the CIO/G-6 are an integral element of USACE – a $27 billion (FY17) Major Army Command consisting of 35,000 dedicated civilians and soldiers delivering engineering, design, and construction management services to customers in more than 110 countries. We serve the American people, striving to provide the most effective engineering and environmental science solutions to the nation’s complex problems affecting national security, the economy, and the environment in which we live. USACE is a key player in all aspects of coastal/ water resources engineering, construction, flood control, navigation, disaster response, and military construction activities. ​CIO/G-6 Offices and Divisions

Capital Planning: CPD develops the Capital Planning Policy and Guidance and shepherd the IT budget forums to the conclusion of a validated, authorized annual budget authority. We liaise with the Office of Management and Budget to coordinate and assist in the development of all required artifacts to satisfy upward reporting requirements as well as manage the Annual PortfolioStat.

Governance and Architecture: Serve as the primary policy developer, integrator and coordinator for the development and interpretation of all USACE IT Enterprise Architecture and IM/IT compliance. Provide planning, governance, quality assurance and compliance with the Federal, DoD, Army and Corps Enterprise Architecture (CeA). Provide governance and oversight of IT programs by developing and implementing compliance policies and processes.

Portfolio Integration: The Portfolio Integration Division is the application of systematic management to programs and program elements managed by enterprise Information Technology requirements, capabilities, prioritization, and managing risk.  As Portfolio Managers we serve as the integrator and advocate for the Portfolio Owners and Investment Review Boards with: Identifying, ranking and justifying investments that are synchronized with USACE strategies and mission requirements; are achievable with limited resources; offer acceptable risk profiles; and maximize financial returns.

Information Management: The Information Management mission serves as the policy developer, integrator and coordinator for the development and interpretation of USACE IM/IT policy in the areas of Records Management, Publications, Visual Information, Privacy, Libraries, and Knowledge Management.

Strategy and Support: As executive agent for CIO/G6 strategic planning, the Strategic Planning group provides professional strategic planning, analysis, assessment, integration and monitoring capabilities, methodologies, and innovative approaches to assist the CIO/G6 in the development, implementation, and management of command information resource management strategic plans and strategies, to include strategic content development and management advice for strategic communications.
