  • Reminder for Missouri River Basin fall public meetings

    This is a reminder that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host its fall public meeting series for the Missouri River Basin November 7-9, 2023. These public meetings are held each spring and fall across the Missouri River Basin and provide an update on current year's runoff and reservoir operations, as well as planned operations for the next year's runoff season.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 23-68 UPDATE: White River Entrance Channel

    Dredging operations are progressing downstream of Montgomery Point Lock & Dam (NM 0.5). The Dredge Sandpiper is currently dredging in the downstream approach to the lock with plans to continue in this area until the morning of Thursday, October 26, 2023.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 23-67 Lock 3 Reopened

    The hydraulic system at Joe Hardin Lock (No. 3) NM 50.2 has been repaired and is back in service. The Lock is reopened to navigation traffic.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 23-66 Lock 3 Unscheduled Closure

    The Joe Hardin Lock (No. 3) NM 50.2 is experiencing issues with the hydraulic system and is temporarily closed to traffic. Crews are onsite and will have the Lock reopened as soon as the problem can be resolved. A subsequent Navigation Notice will be issued once the Lock has been opened to traffic.
  • Minneapolis locks closing Nov. 1 for the end of navigation season

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is closing its Lower St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam and Lock and Dam 1, both in Minneapolis, to commercial and recreational vessels for the end of the navigation season Nov. 1.

    GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (Oct. 23, 2023) – Thalle Construction Company celebrated reaching 500,000 labor hours without a lost time accident in constructing a larger navigation lock on the Tennessee River. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District recognized the remarkable milestone last week and thanked construction workers for their role in delivering a project of national significance.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' routine maintenance dredging in Everett Harbor and Snohomish River federal project is scheduled to begin Oct. 25, 2023.
  • Crowdsourcing bathymetry could provide near-time picture of nation’s inland waterways

    Taking advantage of vessels already on the water, an effort in the works at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) will use those vessels’ depth finders and GPS to create a snapshot of a channel and any obstructions that may exist.

  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 23-64 UPDATE: WREC Channel Restriction and Delays

    Crews arrived in the area on Sunday, October 15, 2023, to begin clamming in the downstream approach at Montgomery Point Lock & Dam (NM 0.5). A Notice to Proceed has been given to the Contract Dredge Sandpiper who is expected to arrive in the area and begin dredging on or before Saturday, October 21, 2023. The Dredge Sandpiper is expected to complete dredging operations below Montgomery Point Lock & Dam on or around Saturday, October 28, 2023.
