MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 24-12 Lock 7 Tow Haulage Out of Service

The tow haulage equipment at Murray Lock (No. 7) NM 125.4 is currently out of service due to electrical issues. Double cut tows will have to be locked the conventional way (without the use of tow haulage). A follow up notice will be distributed when the tow haulage equipment is back in service.

MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 24-04 Lock 6 Intermittent Delays

Mariners should expect to experience intermittent delays at David D. Terry Lock (No. 6) NM 108.1 beginning February 5 through February 8, 2024, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily. The intermittent delays are required to facilitate underwater dive operations near the Lock chamber.

Missouri River navigation restoration efforts hit major milestone despite challenges

2024 will mark five years since the historic flood of 2019 in Kansas City and the surrounding region. Water levels on the Missouri River reached heights not seen for decades and caused an estimated $2.9 billion in damages across the Midwest. While the historic flooding impacted many in the area in ways they will likely not soon forget, it might be hard to believe that just a couple of years after the historic flooding, the region entered a period of historic drought. With water levels now at historic lows, repairing the river’s navigation channel to its pre-flood condition has not been an easy feat.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, reminds the public that Lock and Dam 7, located near La Crescent, Minnesota, is closed for winter maintenance. The parking lot is also inaccessible to the public.
