  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 24-27 Lock 10 Reopened

    The electrical issue at Dardanelle Lock (No. 10) NM 205.5 was repaired and the Lock is currently open to traffic.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 24-26 Lock 10 Unscheduled Closure

    Dardanelle Lock (No. 10) NM 205.5 is currently closed to traffic due to an electrical issue. Crews are currently enroute to troubleshoot and repair the issue. A subsequent navigation notice will be distributed when the Lock is back in service.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 24-25 Solar Eclipse Advisory NM 100 to NM 300

    Mariners are advised to exercise caution on Monday April 8, 2024 when transiting the area between NM 100 and NM 300 on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System. It is anticipated there will be a higher volume than normal of recreational vessels in the area, many of which may be operated by individuals unfamiliar with the navigation system. Some pleasure craft may unknowingly be moored in the navigation channel to observe the eclipse. Mariners are further advised to expect higher than normal recreational traffic in the days leading up to this event.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 24-24 Lock 13 Intermittent Delays Update

    The intermittent delay period at James W. Trimble Lock (No. 13) NM 292.8 on March 9, 2024, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., noted in Nav Notice SWL 24-22, has changed. The new intermittent delay is on March 10, 2024, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The intermittent delays are required to facilitate replacement of hydraulic piping.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 24-23 Lock 8 Closure

    Toad Suck Lock (No. 8) NM 155.9 will be closed to traffic beginning at 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on March 13, 2024, to allow surveyors to measure the miter gates. The closure is weather dependent and will be canceled and rescheduled should rainfall occur.
  • Despite early runoff, upper basin runoff forecast below average; Gavins Point releases to increase for navigation flow support

    A warm February led to increased snowmelt and runoff in the Missouri River Basin above Sioux City, Iowa. February runoff was 1.8 million acre-feet, 161% of average with above average runoff in every reach except Sioux City, which was near average. However, the updated 2024 calendar year runoff forecast for the basin continues to be below average.   
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 24-20 Lock 7 Intermittent Delays

    Mariners should expect to experience intermittent delays at Murray Lock (No. 7) NM 125.4 beginning March 18 through March 21, 2024, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily. The intermittent delays are required to facilitate an underwater dive inspection of the Lock chamber.
  • Corps of Engineers to reopen four locks and dams after winter maintenance

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will reopen several locks and dams in March that were closed for winter maintenance.
  • Corps of Engineers awards two $2 million contracts for Auxiliary Lock Bulkhead Slot Installation at Lock and Dam 3 and 9

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded two, $2 million contracts to Togiak Management Services LLC of Anchorage, Alaska, to construct bulkhead slots on the intermediate wall and river wall upstream of the miter gates in the auxiliary lock chamber at Lock and Dam 3 located in Welch, Minnesota, and Lock and Dam 9 located in Eastman, Wisconsin.
