    Mariners should expect to experience intermittent delays at Murray Lock (No. 7) NM 125.4 on July 11, 2024 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The intermittent delays are required to facilitate repairs to the hydraulic system.

  • Corps reopens Minneapolis locks and dams

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, announced today that Lower St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam and Lock and Dam 1, in Minneapolis, are open to all traffic, including recreational traffic.
  • System operations returning to normal post flooding

    Significant rainfall led to an above average runoff in the upper Missouri River Basin. June runoff was 6.6 million acre-feet, which is 119% of average and 2.6 MAF higher than forecast. A strong weather system moved into the basin on June 21 producing excessive rainfall in eastern South Dakota, north central and northeastern Nebraska, and northwestern Iowa. The rainfall totals exceeded 600% of normal over the 24-hour period.

    To ensure the safety of life and property during the Pops on the River fireworks display in Little Rock, AR, a safety zone will be established by the U.S. Coast Guard for the Arkansas River from mile marker 118.0 to mile marker 119.0.
  • UPDATE: Locks and Dams 1 and 3 are now open

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, announced today that Lock and Dam 1, in Minneapolis, is now open to all commercial traffic, and Lock and Dam 3, in Welch, Minnesota, is open to navigation traffic. Be advised that Lock and Dam 1 flows are at 30,000 cubic feet per second with floating debris creating potentially hazardous conditions for recreational traffic; therefore, the lock is closed to recreational traffic until water flows decrease and the excessive amount of floating debris is reduced.
  • Corps closes Lock and Dam 3 due to high Mississippi River flows

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, closed Lock and Dam 3, located upstream of Red Wing, Minnesota, to all traffic until further notice due to high flows over 125,000 cubic feet per second, or cfs. It is anticipated that this lock will be reopened July 4, but it is weather dependent.
