• Army Corps still accepting public comments on Cape May seawall draft report

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District is still accepting public and agency comments on a draft report that addresses the need for storm protection along a portion of the existing Cape May seawall in the vicinity of Wilmington and Beach Avenues.
  • North Spillway, South Spillway, and Overlook will be closed on 23 - 24 March 2021

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announces the closure of the North Spillway, South Spillway, and Overlook from 3:00 p.m., March 23, 2021 through 7:00 A.M., March 25, 2021. This closure includes the shooting range, disk golf course, boat ramp, shelter houses, and bathrooms. Mark Twain Lake will be hosting the Air Force National Guard as they complete a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic to provide vaccinations to approximately 2,000 participants. This is not an open event, all participants receiving the vaccination have a standing appointment with a scheduled time slot.
  • Thurmond Lake to Close Ridge Road Boat Ramp to Day Users

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S Army Corps of Engineers, J. Strom Thurmond Lake is changing access to its Ridge Road Boat Ramp to Ridge Road campers only. This change will begin March 26, when the Ridge Road Campground opens this year.
  • 21-012 Little Goose transformer line fails: resulting oil leak is contained, no oil has reached the Snake River

    STARBUCK, Wash. – At approximately 2:15 today, the T2 transformer at Little Goose Dam had an oil loss as a result of an electrical incident: the oil was captured in secondary containment and it hasn’t reached the river.
  • AFRL and USACE hold groundbreaking ceremony at KAFB

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, and the Air Force Research Laboratory held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction for the Skywave Laboratory, March 16, 2021, at Kirtland Air Force Base.
  • Galveston District, Velasco Drainage District sign Project Partnership Agreement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District and the Velasco Drainage District signed a Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) March 16, 2021, to construct the Freeport and Vicinity Coastal Storm Risk Management Project (CSRM) element of the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay Authorized Project.
  • 21-011 Dworshak Dam discharges to decrease to 1,700 cfs for upcoming week

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – In order to meet flood control targets for March and April and to preserve water for hatchery releases in early April, Dworshak Dam will be decreasing releases starting Saturday night, March 20, at midnight. This decrease will result in the river lowering approximately 2 feet between midnight on Saturday and 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, after which time reservoir releases will remain constant.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is scheduling a full road closure for Hwy 165/265 over Table Rock Dam to facilitate the heavy equipment needed for the installation of a head gate.

  • ERDC researchers combine robotics, imagery technology to solve problems

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Construction Engineering Research Laboratory’s Robotics for Engineer Operations (REO) team is combining efforts with the Information Technology Laboratory’s Robotic Assessment of Dams (DamBot) team to tackle challenges posed by both combat engineer operations abroad and infrastructure at home.
