    Kaskaskia River Project is Back in Business

    The Kaskaskia River Project, located near the mouth of the Kaskaskia River, is now back in operation for visitors to come and enjoy the recreation areas. The third largest flood experienced at the Kaskaskia Lock and Dam since the 1993 and 1995 floods has now receded enough to clean up the debris and facilities. The Kaskaskia River Boat Access and picnic shelter, located upstream of the lock and dam, are available for public use.

    Corps increases outflow from Lac Qui Parle Dam

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will be increasing outflow from Lac Qui Parle Dam, located northwest of Montevideo, Minn., to 4,500 cubic feet per, or cfs, Wednesday, June 26. Depending on additional rainfall, releases from the dam are expected to remain at this level into the first week of July.

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – (June 25) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, is expecting to close two locks on the Mississippi River due to rising river levels. The closures are necessary as the Mississippi River overtops lock gates making the locks inoperable.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to hold public meeting on Jacksonville Harbor Deepening Study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District will hold a public meeting Thursday, June 27 at the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal, 9810 August Drive to discuss the release of the draft tentatively selected plan for the Jacksonville Harbor Deepening Study. An open house and poster session will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a formal presentation and official comment period.
