• US District Court enters consent judgment for permit noncompliance for project

    The U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska entered a consent judgment June 15 against Brian Kincaid for noncompliance with his Department of the Army permit for a project in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, a violation of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
  • Lane closure to occur for sewer line work on Louisiana Ave.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, and its contractors will temporarily close south and north bound travel lanes on a section of Louisiana Ave. near St. Charles Ave. for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA).
  • Chatfield Dam to temporarily lower release rate

    At the request of local authorities and in coordination with the State of Colorado, the release from Chatfield Dam will be reduced temporarily from 3000 cubic feet per second to 1000 cfs tomorrow morning and will be increased back to 3000 cfs by early afternoon. The release reduction will drop the South Platte River by about one foot from the dam through Denver, Colorado but will go back up tomorrow evening. The public is urged to adhere to warnings from local authorities and stay out of the river when river levels and flows are high.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 15-45 Restricted Zone Advisory (NM 289.0 to NM 293.0)

    MKARNS (NM 289.0 - NM 293.0) - A Military Exercise “Restricted Zone” will close the Arkansas River (NM 289.0 to NM 293.0) to all traffic August 4, 2015 from 4:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The 841st Engineering Battalion will be conducting a bridge crossing exercise.
  • Spalding and Indian Creek Beaches Closed due to High Water

    Mark Twain Lake is experiencing higher than normal water levels due to the recent rainfall in the watershed. The lake is expected to crest at less than 622.5 NGVD by Wednesday, June 24, with no additional precipitation. The normal pool elevation is 606 NGVD.

  • Illinois Waterway Visitor Center Reopens

    Ottawa, Ill. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District announces the Illinois Waterway Visitor Center located at Starved Rock Lock and Dam in Ottawa, Illinois has reopened to visitors after high water had restricted access to the building last week.
  • Locking restrictions to be implemented on Okeechobee Waterway

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District has announced restrictions for lock operations on the Okeechobee Waterway due to receding water levels on Lake Okeechobee, effective immediately. Locking operations at the W.P. Franklin Lock & Dam near Fort Myers and the St. Lucie Lock & Dam near Stuart will be conducted every two hours from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. This action is the result of the water level at Lake Okeechobee falling below 12.5 feet.
  • Corps of Engineers increases vigilance with Phase II floodfight efforts

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 22, 2015 – The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) initiated Phase II floodfighting this morning due to continuing high river stages on the Upper Mississippi River. The area of current or possible flooding is located in the northern portion of the Memphis District in the Charleston (Missouri) and Cairo (Illinois) Sectors.
