    Michael J. Kirwan Dam and Reservoir Seeks Public Review, Feedback

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District is revisiting the Michael J. Kirwan Dam and Reservoir Master Plan and is seeking feedback on the proposed changes to the management of the lake, resulting from public input last summer. The master plan, which the district updated late in 1982, will affect use of natural resources and recreational activities at Michael J. Kirwan Dam and Reservoir for the next 25 years.

    HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (June 14, 2018) – Instructors dangled a training dummy deep inside the Old Hickory Dam Hydropower Plant today making it possible for 19 employees to get smart on safety procedures and emergency rescue operations in confined spaces.

    Northern Electrical Power System provides power in Logar Province

    BAGRAM, Afghanistan – The Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is expanding electrical grid power for military bases, businesses, and residents across the country. Most recently in Logar Province in eastern Afghanistan, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani inaugurated the 220kV substation during an inauguration and ribbon-cutting ceremony, held in May shortly after its completion.

    WEIPPE, Idaho – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District invites public comments on a draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for the City of Weippe, Idaho, Wastewater Collection and Treatment System Improvements Project. Comments are due no later than June 27, 2018.

    18-060 Goats return to manage levee vegetation along Mill Creek; temporary leash rules in effect to help protect goats, visitors

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – A herd of goats will arrive during the weekend to remove weeds and other vegetation growing on levees that border the creek shoreline extending from the Mill Creek diversion dam downstream to the metal division works foot bridge near the Mill Creek Office. Contractors who manage the goat-grazing service will arrive on Friday, June 15, to set up fencing.

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – Officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, will answer questions from residents living on the former Pontiac Bombing Range in eastern Richland County, during a public meeting June 26. The Corps will hold the meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Spring Valley High School Cafeteria, 120 Sparkleberry Lane, in Columbia.
