    TRI-CITIES, Wash. – Natural Resource Management staff from the Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District and scientists from the Corps' Engineer Research and Development Center in Vickburg, MS,will conduct research on water exchange rates Aug. 20-27 in the Columbia River upstream of McNary Lock and Dam (Lake Wallula).
  • Releases from Gavins Point Dam reduced to address heavy rain

    Releases from Gavins Point Dam on the Missouri River were reduced from 58,000 cubic feet per second to 52,000 cfs to address heavy rainfall in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska. A weather system that has already seen rainfall totals from 2 to 6 inches across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa is causing increased river stages along the Missouri River and tributaries in the area.
  • District Hosts Founder’s Day

    VICKSBURG, Miss.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District hosted Founders Day in commemoration of the District’s 145 years of service to the nation. This event celebrates the founding of the Vicksburg district by Capt. William Henry Harrison Benyaurd on August 18, 1879. The Corps of Engineers has maintained a continuous presence in Vicksburg ever since and remains Vicksburg’s second oldest business.
