These 498 miles of river have some of the richest viewing in our area. You will see a palette of colors. In the spring and summer, mostly shades of green. American Sycamore, Silver Maple, Box Elder and River Birch are some of the trees that line the banks. Sand bars offer an opportunity to picnic – with caution as not to disturb wildlife particularly on those marked for endangered species.

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – On June 19 the Corps of Engineers will conduct a required test of the spillway gates at Hartwell Dam on the upper Savannah River. The test will ensure the gates work properly and can be activated in the event of an emergency to protect the dam plus people and property downstream.

    ROHNERT PARK, California – Physical debris removal and all field work related to the Consolidated Debris Removal Program following the October 2017 Northern California Wildfires is now complete, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Crews have cleared 4,563 parcels in Lake, Mendocino, Napa and Sonoma counties of more than 2.2 million tons of ash and fire-related debris.
