    People use acronyms and abbreviations such as NASA or FBI because they are less clumsy and easier to write and remember than the complete expression they represent. One of the newest acronyms gaining mainstream usage is STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
  • Tomorrow's engineers tackle internships in Europe

    WIESBADEN, Germany- With four right hands raised in the air, the 17th class of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District interns took the civilian service oath of office. The district welcomed Michael Gray-Lewis, Yillian Rivera, Donatello Barrett and Tiffany Williams -- this year's Advancing Minorities' Interest in Engineering students -- to Europe in early June.

    TULSA, Okla. - At the completion of her STEM internship at the Tulsa District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Hannah Blankenship was invited to write a commentary about her experience. It seems this high school senior learned a lot more than she expected during the internship. How could the Army Corps of Engineers be such a widespread and dynamic government entity that is involved in so many aspects of people's lives but not even be in the vocabulary of the average high school student?
