USACE earns first LEED® certification for US facility in Germany
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District announced June 26, 2012 that it has been awarded the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver certification of a U.S. facility in Germany. LEED, established by the U.S. Green Building Council, is an internationally recognized program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.

The new Gen. John Shalikashvili Mission Command Center will be the new home for most of the staff of U.S Army Europe and is located at the newly named Gen. Lucius D. Clay Kaserne, U.S. Army Airfield in Wiesbaden, Germany.

USACE has issued $2.13M in Flood Control and Coastal Emergency Funding for the provision of flood response technical expertise, and management of flood response supplies and equipment. #Helene (As of 5 Oct)

USACE has received 15 @fema Mission Assignments following #Helene, including National Activation, Regional Activations, Temporary Emergency Power, Infrastructure Assessment, and Debris Management/Oversight totaling $56.97M. (As of 5 Oct)

Under the Stafford Act, USACE supports the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency in carrying out the National Response Plan, which calls on 30 federal departments and agencies to provide coordinated disaster relief and recovery operations. (3/3)

Under Public Law 84-99 (Flood Control and Coastal Emergencies), USACE provides disaster preparedness services and advanced planning measures designed to reduce the amount of damage caused by an impending disaster. (2/3)
