  • Army Corps to reopen public beaches and visitor center at Raystown Lake

    As part of the phased reopening of recreation facilities following COVID-19 closures, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, announces the reopening of public beaches and most areas within the Raystown Lake Visitors Center, including the information center, interior restrooms and the retail store operated by the Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau, on June 27.

(Aug. 16, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the immediate closure of Ragland Bottom Day Use Beach at Center Hill Lake in Smithville, Tenn., due to E.coli detected in the water. Buzzards are suspected and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Service technicians have been contacted for support.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 2, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the immediate closure of Ragland Bottom Day Use Beach at Center Hill Lake in Smithville, Tenn., due to high bacteria levels in the water. The area is still open for picnicking and boat launching. No other beaches at Center Hill Lake are affected.

  • Duval County project recognized as “Best Restored Beach”

    The Duval County Shore Protection Project was recognized today by the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA) as one of the nation’s best restored beaches for 2019. Actually, the project includes four county beaches that were recognized: Atlantic, Neptune and Jacksonville beaches, and Hannah Park, too!
