    MURRAY L&D - Tow haulage equipment at Murray Lock (No. 7) NM 125.4 will be out of service on January 7, 2013 from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. for maintenance and repairs. Double cut tows will have to be locked the conventional way (without the use of tow haulage).
  • NASA proclaims strategic partnership with Corps for support

    NASA Langley Research Center officials reached an agreement with the Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, to have the Corps support the research center’s facility-engineering needs.
  • Hunting restricted at Eastman Lake to protect nesting eagles

    The area bordering and including Lakeview Trail at Eastman Lake (near Madera) is now in its seasonal hunting closure through July 15, 2013 to protect nesting bald eagles.
  • Cooperative agreement promises to aid both manatees and navigation

    During an informal signing ceremony, Jacksonville District Commander Col. Alan Dodd added his name to a cooperative agreement along with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Florida field office supervisors to help manatees and insure the Corps' navigation mission moves forward. The group used the authority provided in the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) to develop a cooperative agreement which provides both agencies flexibility when developing real world solutions to help the manatee in the face of growing pressure.

    Within days of Hurricane Sandy’s landfall, which reaped devastating effects across the northeastern seaboard, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District team was among the many national Corps responders to arrive on the scene to provide welcomed relief and assistance.
  • Corps completes Thorpe Rd. Bridge

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District put the finishing touches on the bridge across Thorpe Road over the Rio de Flag in Flagstaff, Ariz. and reopened the thoroughfare to complete the project in December.
  • Tulsa District hosts Eufaula Lake listening session

    Col. Michael Teague, Tulsa District commander, held a Commander’s Listening Session in the Eufaula High School auditorium Dec. 18. The session, which had approximately 80 attendees, was an opportunity to update community members on a variety of topics concerning Eufaula Lake.
  • Precious cargo at The Dalles Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife employees dewatered the east fish ladder at The Dalles Lock and Dam Dec. 3. Dewatering is done during the winter months so the fish ladders can be inspected and workers can perform needed maintenance or repairs when fish are not migrating.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mississippi Valley Division, selected Rebecca Graser, St. Paul District employee and Waukesha, Wis., resident as its division nominee for the 2012 Don Lawyer Regulator of the Year.
