Survey crews to start work on Tangier Jetty

Physical work on the feasibility phase of the Tangier Jetty program is set to begin this week, weather dependant. A Norfolk District survey crew will operate in the water where the jetty is to be built at the federal navigation channel entranceway on the western side of the island.

NR 12-046: Nashville District announces plans to tighten restrictions around Corps Dams

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is finalizing plans to implement 24/7 restricted waterborne access to hazardous waters immediately upstream and downstream of all Corps-owned locks and dams, flood control dams and multipurpose dams on the Cumberland River and its adjoining tributaries. This action moves the Nashville District into full compliance with Corps regulations.

On Nov. 19, the Middle East District employed a process it rarely uses to accelerate a contract award by holding a sealed bid opening for a construction project in Afghanistan. The sealed bidding process uses competitive bids, public opening of bids, and timely contract award to the contractor with the lowest priced, responsive bid.

Operation Warfighter Soldier awarded Purple Heart in surprise ceremony

When Sgt. Jay Silk, Operation Warfighter Soldier at the Tenkiller Lake office, walked into the Oklahoma National Guard’s Christmas party, he expected a fun evening with his family and fellow soldiers. But things are not always as they seem, Silk and another Wounded Warrior, Cpl. Scott Harper, were surprised with a Purple Heart ceremony.
