To keep everyone safe we ask that you ‘Know Before you Go.’ There are some changes to our operation and we want guests to be aware.
  • Eau Galle campground reopening in time for Memorial Day weekend

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is reopening its Highland Ridge Campground at the Eau Galle Dam and Recreation Site, located in Spring Valley, Wis., tomorrow, May 23. The campground was closed the first week of May after the park received more than 14 inches of heavy snowfall that resulted in extensive tree damage.
  • Memorial Day Weekend Calls for Water Safety

    CARLYLE LAKE–Drowning remains the number one cause of death in recreational boating accidents. Ninety percent of those who drowned were NOT wearing their life jackets. Saturday, May 18, marked the start of National Safe Boating Week, an annual nationwide event dedicated to raising the awareness of boating safety prior to Memorial Day weekend, the traditional start of the summer boating season. The campaign’s theme, “Ready, Set, Wear-It” is designed to emphasize the importance of wearing a life jacket. Water safety must be a top priority for everyone using the nation’s waterways and lakes this summer. An estimated 350 million people visit U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recreation areas each year. Below are safety tips from the Corps of Engineers to help recreation seekers stay safe in the water over the Memorial Day holiday weekend and into the summer.
  • Weekend Activities at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE–The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake is preparing for a fun and safe weekend celebrating Memorial Day. Whether you enjoy fishing, camping, boating, bike riding or other outdoor activities, Carlyle Lake offers an abundance of recreation opportunities. While participating in water related recreation activities, always wear your life jacket. Over two-thirds of people who drown never had any intention of being in the water.
  • Dam West Boat Ramp Closed Temporarily for (IHSA) Bass Fishing Finals

    CARLYLE LAKE - The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Bass Fishing Finals are being held at Carlyle Lake on Friday, May 31, 2013 and Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Dam West Boat Ramp in the Dam West Day Use Area. In order to accommodate the tournament activities, the Dam West Boat Ramp will be closed to the general public from Monday, May 27th at 10:00 p.m. through Sunday, June 2nd at 12:00 p.m. Visitors should use the Apache Boat Ramp located in Eldon Hazlet State Park or the Dam East Boat Ramp and Keyesport Boat Ramp which will be available to the general public during this period.

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Staff at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Dworshak Dam Visitor Center announced their tour schedule for the 2013 summer recreation season -- starting May 24 through Labor Day weekend, tours will be offered daily at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. All tours begin at the Visitor Center.
