    Stroke victim’s recovery facilitated by Savannah’s FRN coordinator

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – A rising left arm gently roused Valencia Wynn out of her sleep at nearly 30,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. Traveling on a transcontinental flight destined for Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Wynn peered through heavy eyelids to witness her arm elevate. Her fingers fluttered delicately as if playing on a floating piano, she said.

    Corps to change hours on Okeechobee Waterway locks

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will change the operating hours at the five locks on the Okeechobee Waterway at the beginning of April. The new operating hours at each of the five locks are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week, with last lock through starting at 4:30 p.m.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The 2015 Mississippi River navigation season has arrived. The Motor Vessel New Dawn locked through Lock and Dam 2, near Hastings, Minnesota, at 7:45 a.m. this morning. She was pushing nine loaded barges en route to St. Paul, Minnesota.

    Nashville District salutes Vietnam War vets who served with honor

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 25, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District held its semiannual retiree luncheon today, but it wasn’t an ordinary get together. The group decided instead to salute employees, retirees and their family members who served with honor during the Vietnam War.

    15-022 Lower Granite Dam bridge repair Thursday night will close part of Almota Ferry Road near dam

    POMEROY, Wash. – A portion of Almota Ferry Road in Garfield County near Lower Granite Dam is planned to be closed Thursday evening, March 26, beginning at 6 p.m. and ending about 10 p.m., to allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to repair a bridge pier. The bridge is located on Almota Ferry Road leading to the south-shore entrance across Lower Granite Dam, and provides public access to dam crossings, the Offield Landing area and lower Wawawai Grade Road.
