  • Intermittent road restrictions continue as hydro project progresses

    The mild weather this week has allowed crews at the Red Rock Dam to continue working day and night to prepare the site for construction of a powerhouse and intake structure that will comprise the Red Rock Hydroelectric Project (RRHP). Short-term road closures, directed by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, will occur in the overnight hours every three to four days as crews move large rebar cages from the North Tailwater staging area to the construction area on the upstream side of the Dam. In addition, Highway T-15 will be restricted to one lane every three to four days to facilitate staging of the concrete trucks to ensure worker and public safety as the wall element sections are poured.

  • Army Corps’ contractor updates schedule for LBI construction

    PHILADELPHIA (March 17, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced an update to the construction schedule for the Long Beach Island Coastal Storm Damage Reduction project, a joint effort between the Army Corps and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company, the Corps’ contractor, will begin dredging and beachfill operations in late-April in the borough of Ship Bottom.

    Huntington, W.Va. – Residents who live along the Elk River below Sutton Dam in Sutton, W.Va., are being cautioned that after future extreme storm events, they may see higher river levels than they have experienced in the past as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to manage the dam’s storage capacity.

(March 17, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is placing the final concrete to complete a barrier wall in the main dam embankment of Center Hill Dam this week. These concrete pours complete the $115 million foundation barrier wall, a key component of the Center Hill Dam Safety Remediation Project.
  • McGee Bridge Dock Closed for Repairs

    MOBILE, Ala.--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District at West Point Project announced that the courtesy dock at McGee Bridge Park is closed for use until repairs can be made to the walkway section. A barricade and closed sign are posted. The public is discouraged from using the dock as this could cause additional damage to other portions of the walkway section. Thank you for your compliance.
