    SAFETY NOTICE TO BOATERS USING THE CHICAGO HARBOR LOCK:

    SAFETY NOTICE TO BOATERS USING THE CHICAGO HARBOR LOCK: Key things to bear in mind as we head into recreational boating season. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District, is testing the use of a trained dog at the Chicago Harbor Lock. Boaters are advised to secure their pets when transiting the lock. Do not attempt to interact with the dog. Passengers transiting the lock must remain onboard their vessel. Anyone leaving their boat and entering lock property is subject to arrest. All passengers on recreation vessels, including those inside the cabin, must wear a personal flotation device (PFD) while locking through the Chicago Harbor Lock. Please put on your PFD BEFORE entering the lock chamber.

    Corps seeks public comment on draft Willamette Falls Locks Integrated Disposition Study and Environmental Assessment

    The Corps is seeking public comment on its draft proposal to recommend Congressional de-authorization and disposal of the Willamette Falls Locks after performing minor modification for seismic retrofits and to install perimeter fencing and debris and boat barriers. Comments are open through July 12.

    CORPS HOSTS YOUTH FISHING DERBY AT WILLOW BEACH PARK

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Army Corps of Engineers invites youth 15 and under to participate in a free fishing derby at Willow Beach Park, just off of the Arkansas River. The derby will be held from 9 a.m. until noon, June 3. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
