  • 17-069 Dworshak Dam Visitor Center announces new summer season Visitor Center and tour hours

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Summer is just around the corner, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like you to know that Dworshak Dam Visitor Center will be open seven days a week starting Friday, May 26, the beginning of Memorial Day weekend, through Labor Day weekend. The Visitor Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tours of the dam will be offered daily at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Tours are limited to 8 people, and photo identification is required.
  • 17-068 Canyon Creek Road repaired, and campground and boat ramp now open

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Canyon Creek Road access to Dworshak Reservoir has been re-opened after road repairs, and the Canyon Creek Campground and Boat Ramp are now open and accessible by visitors. A rock and mud landslide on Canyon Creek Road this spring forced closure of the road leading to the popular recreation area. For safety, visitors are advised that there are logging operations occurring adjacent to the recreation area.

  • Valley reservoirs full now, early drawdown will lower levels

    Above average rainfall this spring has nearly filled the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ reservoirs in the Willamette Valley. Reservoirs are about 99 percent full as the region begins plans for summer recreation. Most reservoirs will follow the normal management schedule, however, some will experience early drawdowns: Hills Creek, Cougar and Blue River reservoirs.
  • Time running out for Sand Key property owners to provide easements for beach nourishment

    Time is running out for property owners to provide easements in the affected areas of the Pinellas County Shore Protection Project Sand Key Segment. Owners in the affected areas and individual parcels have until June 2 to provide the perpetual storm damage reduction easements to Pinellas County, otherwise these areas will be bypassed completely.

  • Corps begins next phase of inspections along Mississippi River

    The Mississippi River at the Carrollton gage has risen above 15.0 feet prompting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District to activate phase II flood fight procedures. During phase II the Corps works with the local levee districts to conduct inspections of the Mississippi River levees from Morganza to Venice.
