  • Army Corps, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments to start study on ways to protect vulnerable assets from coastal flooding

    Baltimore District signed an agreement July 18 with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments to begin an approximately $3-million, three-year study on possible ways to address coastal flooding and storm damage across more than 57 square miles in the District of Columbia and surrounding areas of suburban Maryland and northern Virginia. As part of this study, the team will investigate flood risk and identify ways to help protect vulnerable assets upon which the region relies, like local governments, businesses, institutions and water, energy and communication utilities; transportation hubs; federal buildings and military installations; national security facilities; and significant national monuments and cultural treasures.

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announce closure of fishing pier at Navarro Mills Lake

    FORT WORTH, Texas – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District will begin staging material and equipment behind the dam at Navarro Mills Lake to repair the discharge channel slope and fishing pier approximately July 24. Access to the fishing pier will be temporarily closed while the material and equipment is being delivered. Work on the discharge channel slope will begin on the west side of the discharge channel, therefore the fishing area, which is located on the east side of the discharge channel, will re-open after the material and equipment is delivered.

On May 6, Boehmer earned the first place trophy in the Masters over 35 Class-A bikini category of the 2017 National Physique Committee (NPC) Battle on the Bluff Bodybuilding Contest. She also took home the fifth-place trophy in the Bikini Novice Class-A category. The event took place at the Gold Strike Casino in Tunica, Miss. The NPC, started in 1982, is the premier amateur physique organization in the world.
  • Information meeting scheduled to discuss nonstructural flood risk solutions in Fremont, Nebraska

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District will hold an information meeting on Monday, July 24, 2017 in Fremont to discuss potential nonstructural flood risk management solutions that could reduce the community’s flood risk and incidentally may reduce flood insurance premiums. The meeting will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Christensen Field located at 1710 West 16th Street.
