    A draft supplemental environmental assessment (SEA) on the restoration of emergent sandbar habitat (ESH) complexes in the Missouri River, Nebraska and South Dakota is currently available for public review. The draft SEA evaluates the environmental impacts of removing and preventing vegetation on ESH located within the Fort Randall reach, Lewis and Clark Lake segment, and Gavins Point reach of the Missouri River, South Dakota and Nebraska. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than May 8, 2019.

    KAHLOTUS, Wash. – Lower Monumental Dam’s navigation lock, located at Snake River Mile 41.6 near Kahlostus, Washington, will temporarily be closed to vessel traffic from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 9-12, according to operations officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District.

(April 8, 2019) – Ejected from his turret position in an F350 truck, laying on the ground critically injured in Iraq nearly 12 years ago, Billy Johnson remembers saying an “Our Father,” not fearing death. Today he stood full of life in front of family, friends and his priest, thankful for their love and support as he received the Secretary of Defense Medal for the Defense of Freedom during a ceremony hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Tennessee Valley Authority Central Labs near Chickamauga Lock.

    VICKSBURG, Miss. (April 5, 2018) -- The old world charm and culture of the Italian city of Padua was just one of the many high points Mathew Farthing experienced while in Italy on sabbatical from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center. Farthing, a research hydraulic engineer in ERDC’s Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory, spent the last year teaching a graduate level mathematical engineering course at the University of Padua, the second-oldest university in Italy and the world’s fifth-oldest surviving university.

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Army Corps of Engineers issues a small craft advisory for the Arkansas River beginning at Murray Lock and Dam and continuing downstream. Recent rains in Arkansas and Oklahoma have caused flows to rise. During high flows, strong currents and large debris can threaten the safety of pleasure craft.
