  • Bluestone Celebrations

    On July 9, 2019 the Bluestone Dam Safety Assurance Team were joined by U.S. Congresswoman Carol Miller from the 3rd District of West Virginia and representatives from Senator Manchin and Senator Capito, as well Hinton City Mayor Joe Blankenship, the WV Division of Natural Resources Director Stephen McDaniel, and Tim Tailor from Brayman Construction to help celebrate major accomplishments since the receipt of full funding in the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018.
  • Lake O flows adjusted to support Corps algae research

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will adjust flows from Lake Okeechobee to support scientific research on Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) currently being conducted by USACE’s Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC).
  • Fleming House Volunteer

    This summer and last summer Tina Kurtz has volunteered at the Fleming House of the Bulltown Historic Area. Tina lives in Montana but has family here in West Virginia. During her visit last summer she found a calling to volunteer at the Fleming House. She met Interpretive Ranger Lisa Hess and they have since developed a unique attraction for visitors to the Bulltown Campground and Burnsville Lake area.
  • Top Corps general tours Golden State projects

    The commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers toured several of the agency’s Los Angeles District projects during a recent three-day visit to the Golden State. Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite visited Southern California July 8 to 10, touring the San Diego border construction project, before heading to the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Healthcare System Medical Center to visit the sites of the future mental health in-patient/out-patient facility and community living center, which are under construction.

    Following emergency repairs this week, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District officials said North Landing Bridge should be reopen to vehicle traffic before noon Thursday.
