    Starbuck, Wash. – Officials at Little Goose Lock and Dam are closing dam crossings to the public on Tuesday, Sept. 15 in order to perform maintenance on top of the dam.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has closed the south side of the outlet channel at Arkabutla Lake for routine maintenance and inspection.
  • Critical drainage channels to be maintained

    Throughout its history, the Lower Mississippi River Flood Plain has been besieged by floodwaters; that’s why flood risk management is one of the Memphis District's major mission areas. We serve as the first line of defense for the entire lower Valley. Working to execute this mission and serving as that first line of defense, a Memphis District Project Delivery Team awarded three major contracts to perform maintenance on drainage channels 1 and 251, which are located in the Little River Drainage District in Southeast Missouri. The contracts are for lower Ditch 251, upper Ditch 251, and upper Ditch 1 and authorize contractors to go in and return a total of 89 miles worth of drainage channels to their authorized level of flood protection.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ John Martin Dam received significant maintenance and minor repairs in a recently completed conduit project.
  • Scheduled maintenance underway at McAlpine Locks and Dam

    Due to scheduled maintenance and repairs, the north (1,200 ft.) chamber at McAlpine Locks and Dam on the Ohio River in Louisville, Ky., will be closed from June 15 through November 13, 2020 for miter gate replacement. During this time all traffic will be passed through the south (1,200 ft.) chamber. Starting around June 20, dredging operations of the lower approach will also be conducted. This will include a total river closure during nighttime hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m from July 3 through July 7.
