    SAVANNAH, Ga. – A maintenance team is improving operational efficiency and cutting costs at the Hartwell Dam Power Plant by rehabilitating deficient generators. Recently, staff thwarted the imminent failure of unit 4 when several burnt coils were discovered during scheduled biennial outages. The timely discovery resulted in an economical response that returned the unit online within its established biennial outage.

    The Corps of Engineers will close one lane of Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. April 4 to perform maintenance on the head gate hatch covers.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced today that maintenance operations on Palm Beach Harbor (Lake Worth Inlet) will start early next week and continue through mid-April. The work includes placing all dredged materials on the beach immediately south of the southern jetty, extending the beach seaward approximately 60 feet.
