(May 26, 2017) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District supports marina operators and owners who are voluntarily striving to protect the water resources of the Cumberland River Basin by going “clean and green.” On Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 10 a.m., the Corps, its partners, and Hendricks Creek Marina celebrate as the marina receives the coveted flag to designate them as a “Clean Marina.”

(March 24, 2017) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District employees maintain some of the largest and most used recreational areas in the country close by in the Cumberland River Basin, not a simple task. Just like preparing a home, an apartment, or a recreational vehicle for the next season, the key to maintaining facilities at campgrounds is planning.

  • Bridge maintenance impacts boaters on Okeechobee Waterway

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District is alerting boaters of a route closure that will impact travel along the southern part of Lake Okeechobee. The Corps learned today that crews from Palm Beach County will conduct emergency maintenance on the Torrey Island Bridge which crosses Okeechobee Waterway Route 2 near Belle Glade. While the repairs are underway, crews will suspend operations of the swinging bridge, effectively closing the route to most vessels.

  • Hartwell power plant repairs increase efficiency, cuts costs

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – A maintenance team is improving operational efficiency and cutting costs at the Hartwell Dam Power Plant by rehabilitating deficient generators. Recently, staff thwarted the imminent failure of unit 4 when several burnt coils were discovered during scheduled biennial outages. The timely discovery resulted in an economical response that returned the unit online within its established biennial outage.

    CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (July 20, 2016) – Chickamauga Lock is empty and closed to navigation while maintenance crews inspect and make repairs to the miter gates, valves, bushings and other components normally submerged under more than 11 million gallons of water.
