  • 21-007 Maintenance building upgrades to result in parking lot closure at Mill Creek

    Walla Walla, WA -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District (Corps) will be trenching a septic line for the new maintenance building near the Mill Creek office beginning tomorrow, March 3. This work will result in the closure of the parking lot and road to the Mill Creek Office, March 3 and 4.
  • Columbia and Snake river navigation locks will close March 6 for annual maintenance

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Portland and Walla Walla districts will close all Corps navigation locks on the Columbia and Snake rivers March 6 at 6 a.m. for regularly-scheduled annual inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Divers perform inspection of Ice Harbor’s Removable Spillway Weir

    For the Corps of Engineers, the onset of colder weather signals the beginning of dive season. While perhaps not an official season, most dive work is scheduled between November and March, when salmon runs are at their lowest. On November 17, a team of divers suited up at Ice Harbor Dam to perform the required 3-year inspection of the Removable Spillway Weir.

  • Lock and Dam 4 winter maintenance update

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, closed its parking lot and observation bridge at Lock and Dam 4, in Alma, Wisconsin, for winter maintenance after the end of last year’s navigation season.
  • Memphis dry dock back in action

    The largest dry dock north of New Orleans, Louisiana, is back in action at the Memphis District's Ensley Engineer Yard after spending 14 months in Morgan City, Louisiana. The Memphis District dry dock, known as ‘5801', was shipped to the Conrad Shipyard in Louisiana for repairs and maintenance in June 2019. The dock has been operating since 1958.
  • Boundary Maintenance Work at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake will be performing boundary maintenance work from December 14, 2020 through January 15, 2021 on multiple sections of the boundary line at Carlyle Lake. The boundary line maintenance work will consist of uniformed Park Rangers and volunteers walking the boundary lines, replacing signposts, identifying encroachments on government property, inspecting mowing permits, and clearing brush along the boundary line. The maintenance work is performed annually during the winter months when vegetation is at a minimum. Maintenance is necessary in order to maintain a visible boundary line and to protect the public lands at Carlyle Lake.
  • 20-057 Corps of Engineers completes levee repair in Dayton, WA; begins repairs in Milton-Freewater, OR

    Walla Walla, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District completed repairs for the Dayton Levee Project on Nov. 16 and began repairs on the Milton-Freewater Levee Project on Nov. 18.
  • Contract awarded for Lac qui Parle Dam modernization

    ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded a $5.7 million contract to Drax, Inc., out of Madison, Wisconsin, for the modernization of the Lac qui Parle Dam near Watson, Minnesota, yesterday, Nov. 12.
