    STARBUCK, Wash. – Little Goose Lock and Dam will be temporarily closing public access to the esplanade picnic and fishing areas on Friday, July 23 to accommodate asphalt maintenance work in the adjacent parking lot.
  • NR 21-29: Dale Hollow Dam Road closing for scheduled maintenance

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 19, 2021) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Dale Hollow Dam Road at the dam in Celina, Tennessee, is closing to all traffic 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021, while personnel perform scheduled maintenance on the unit head gates. Due to the extensive nature of this work, there is no scheduled date for re-opening the roadway. However, the work is expected to take more than a month to complete.

  • 21-031 Goats coming to graze at Mill Creek

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Walla Walla District will be using a herd of goats to remove weeds and other vegetation growing on levees that border the creek shoreline extending from the Mill Creek diversion dam downstream to the metal division works foot bridge near the Mill Creek Office. They are scheduled to arrive June 3.
  • Cheatham Lock helps fuel Middle Tennessee in wake of pipeline shutdown

    ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (May 24, 2021) – With the recent shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District opened up Cheatham Lock despite restrictions during scheduled maintenance so barges destined to fuel Middle Tennessee could navigate up the Cumberland River to Nashville terminals.
  • Gavins Point Dam powerplant generators will be shut down for inspection

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announces that all three generators at the Gavins Point Dam powerplant near Yankton, South Dakota, will be shut down to allow for the underwater inspection of the draft tube gate slots on the downstream side of the powerplant. During this outage, all 14 spillway gates will be open to meet the authorized purposes downstream.

    ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (April 16, 2021) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that Cheatham Lock at Cumberland River mile 148.6 is undergoing a series of closures from April 22 through July 23.

  • Final levee system project on horizon as MVM completes preliminary projects

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Memphis District, in partnership with the Fulton County Board of Levee Commissioners (FCBLC), is nearing completion of two maintenance projects, the Island 8 Parcel 1 Relief Well Ditch Restoration Project and the Lake No. 9 Collector Ditch Erosion Repair Project, both located along the Mississippi River Mainline Levee south of Hickman, Kentucky. Completing these projects is essential, but what's even more important is what comes after. Once finished, the district will be that much closer to executing the last and final project needed to complete the entire levee system.
  • Unexpected damage extends navigation lock outage at The Dalles Dam

    Technicians inspecting the navigation lock at The Dalles Dam found cracking in the downstream miter gate during an annual inspection March 10. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials believe vibration, improper sealing and gate misalignment likely caused the damage.
