  • Jacksonville District Delivers a Record Amount of Water South

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District delivered a record amount of water from Water Conservation Area (WCA) 3-A to Everglades National Park (ENP) in the past year. Surpassing expectations, the USACE successfully delivered over 1.4 million acre-feet of water, marking the third-highest volume since 2012, during a non-hurricane year.

  • USACE hosting a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) meeting for the WERP Draft PIR/EIS

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will be hosting a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) meeting for the Western Everglades Restoration Project (WERP) Draft Project Implementation Report and Environmental Impact Statement (PIR/EIS) on Jan.17, 2024 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) station, Southwest Florida Research & Education Center, 2685 State Road 29 North in Immokalee, FL. The virtual only meeting will be January 18, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. The link and call-in information is listed below. The USACE / South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) team will provide an overview of the project and contents of the Draft Report. An “Open House” style question/answer period will follow the formal comment period where USACE and SFWMD staff will be able to interact with attendees.

  • Army water regulators await torrent of winter moisture set to blast the Pacific Northwest

    A stream of atmospheric rivers will be flowing through parts the Pacific Northwest at the beginning of December, drastically changing the region’s most recent crisp, dry autumn – a seemingly strange occurrence. The National Weather Service’s (NWS) Portland office is predicting that up to three atmospheric rivers will pummel the region, bringing a very active weather pattern that will dump plenty of rain at lower elevations and snow to the Cascades.

  • Missouri River fall meetings scheduled for December 13

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a public meeting in Poplar, Montana, Dec. 13 to share information about USACE’s operation of the Missouri River Mainstem Reservoir System. Public meetings are held each spring and fall across the Missouri River Basin and provide an update on current year's runoff and reservoir operations, as well as planned operations for the next year's runoff season.
