    13-028 McNary navigation lock to temporarily close May 2

    UMATILLA, Ore. – McNary Dam’s navigation lock, located at Columbia River Mile 292, near Umatilla, Ore., will be temporarily closed to all river traffic on Thursday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ operations officials.

    Great Outdoors Scavenger Hunt at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a Great Outdoors Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center to commemorate National Park Trust’s (NPT) third annual National Kids to Parks Day. This event is open to children ages 5 to15. A parent or gaurdian will be required to accompany children who are between the ages of 5 and 10. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the scavenger hunt at 9:30 a.m. Participants will have an hour to complete the hunt. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers who find all the items on the scavenger hunt list. All participants will receive prizes. After the hunt, park rangers will present “Natures Treasures” an environmental program to educate participants about the natural items on their scavenger hunt list.
