    Jacksonville, Fla. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District invites the public to review and comment on the Flagler County, Fla., Hurricane and Storm Damage Reduction Project Draft Integrated Feasibility Study and Environmental Assessment. The open comment period starts tomorrow, Jan. 17, and ends Feb. 17.
  • Broward County Beach Erosion Control update

    Jacksonville, Fla. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces passing the halfway mark on Broward County Beach Erosion Control Project construction. Approximately 80,000 cubic-yards of beach quality sand now lies on 3.5 miles of shoreline between the Hillsboro Inlet and Washingtonia Avenue.
  • Camp for Free: Summer Volunteers Needed at Lake Red Rock

    Spend the summer camping at Lake Red Rock for free! The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will provide a free, full-hookup campsite to volunteers willing to provide custodial service at: North Overlook beach, Whitebreast beach, Whitebreast campground and Wallashuck campground. Volunteers are needed from late April through September 2014.   • 2014 New Mexico Earth Science Achievement Awards

    The winners of the 2014 New Mexico Earth Science Achievement Awards were recently announced. This year the awards will go to Marcy L. Leavitt of the Albuquerque District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for outstanding contributions advancing the role of earth science in areas of public service and public policy in New Mexico, and to Dr. David S. Gutzler of the University of New Mexico for outstanding contributions advancing the role of earth science in areas of applied science and education in New Mexico.
