    NAV NOTICE SWL 14-04 MKARNS - River Closure at NM300.8

    MKARNS - The U.S. Coast Guard has closed the Arkansas River to navigation traffic at the Van Buren Railroad Drawbridge (NM 300.8). The Railroad expects the bridge will be lifted by January 28, 2014. At that time, traffic will be allowed to pass.

    Ozark Isle Park Causeway to Temporarily Close

    Mountain Home, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers’ Mountain Home Project Office is closing the causeway at Ozark Isle Park on Bull Shoals Lake beginning Monday, Jan. 27. The road into the park will be closed for about one month while maintenance crews repair the road.

    Corps to host public meeting on study to prevent Asian carp transfer between Mississippi River and Great Lakes basins

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the White House Council on Environmental Quality are hosting a public meeting in Bloomington Jan. 27, 2014, from 4 - 7 p.m. to discuss the Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study, or GLMRIS, report that was submitted to Congress Jan. 6, 2014, and to allow for public comment. The report presents a range of options and technologies available to prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species, such as Asian carp, between the Great Lakes and Mississippi River basins through aquatic connections.

    Scouting for Eagles at the Melvin Price Locks and Dam

    More than 200 Scouts from the St. Louis Metro region grabbed their binoculars and gathered Saturday at the National Great Rivers Museum in Alton, Ill., for the annual “Scouting for Eagles” event.
