    PINE BLUFF, Ark. - The Army Corps of Engineers' Pine Bluff Site Office is advising the public that Huffs Island Park on the Arkansas River is closed for repairs until further notice.

    Hiram M. Chittenden Locks large chamber to close January 17 from 8 a.m. to noon

    The large lock will close to all marine traffic for pump plant-related work from 8 a.m. to noon January 17. The small lock will still be available for vessels less than 120 feet in length and 26 feet in width during this period.

    CORPS ANNOUNCES JANUARY PROGRAMS AT DEWEY SHORT VISITOR CENTER

    BRANSON, Mo. - The Army Corps of Engineers Dewey Short Visitor Center at Table Rock Lake is open Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during January and February 2017. Beginning March 2017 the center will open be seven days a week, Monday – Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    Pilot Program strengthens partnership between Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Mobile District

    As one of the nation’s largest land managers, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) maintains under stewardship many Native American ancestral sites across the country. In an effort to strengthen existing relationships with tribes who have ancestral ties to those lands, USACE Mobile has been working with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma to grant access for ancestral exploration. The pilot program, which has been taking shape for more than two years, launched just before the holiday season when members of the Choctaw Historic Preservation and Cultural Services offices joined the USACE Mobile Archaeology team for an ancestral plant gathering along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, Dec. 12-16.

    INKOM, Idaho – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District invites public comments on a draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the City of Inkom, Idaho, Wastewater System Improvements Project. Comments are due to the Corps no later than Monday, January 30, 2017.
