• Waterway groups gather for first LockFest!

    The Pittsburgh District and its waterways partners are hosting the first ever water safety LockFest 2017. At the event, attendees will learn how to lock through navigation facilities and watch live locking demonstrations, discover water safety tips, talk to tow operators, brush up on boating regulations, and gain knowledge on how to navigate our rivers safely. Bobber, the Water Safety Dog will attend and exhibits from our partners will be available.

The area of possible flooding is located in Wickliffe and Hickman, Ky., and Tiptonville and Dyersburg, Tenn.
  • Bring Back the Monarchs

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake is hosting Bring Back the Monarchs on Saturday, May 20, 2017 to commemorate National Park Trust’s (NPT) Sixth Annual National Kids to Parks Day. The event will take place at the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Over the past several years the monarch butterfly population has reached its lowest level since 1993. Participants at the event can help the recovery by assisting with milkweed and wildflower plantings that will help provide monarchs with food, cover and host plants to lay their eggs. Other activities will include a monarch program, monarch crafts, and photo opportunities.
  • Temporary Road Closures at Carlyle Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake will be temporarily closing Lake Road in the Dam West Recreation Area from 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017 until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Also, portions of the Saddle Dam II roadway will be closed on May 9-10, 2017 for maintenance and resurfacing. These closures are necessary to provide public safety during routine maintenance and road work.
  • Corps Temporarily Modifies Saylorville and Red Rock Reservoir Water Releases

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, initiated a temporary modification to outflows today at Saylorville and Red Rock reservoirs to preserve flood storage capacity. This also allows the Corps to identify any unknown impacts as it evaluates the modification as a permanent change to the reservoirs’ water control plans.
