• USACE recognizes Lake Lanier Park Ranger

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Atlantic Division has recognized Lake Sidney Lanier Park Ranger Rachel Rush for her outstanding efforts to promote the Every Kid in a Park (EKIP) initiative during the first quarter of 2018. To take home the top individual honors for the quarter, Rush visited several local schools and spent time with 675 fourth graders.
  • Corps helping bring fire station back to Santa Rosa’s Fountaingrove neighborhood

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractors have removed the ash and debris from Santa Rosa Fire Department’s old Station 5 location on Parker Hill Road in the city’s Fountaingrove neighborhood, allowing for construction of a temporary facility there that will bring critical fire response back to the area.

A piezometer is a device which measures the pressure of groundwater at specific points and assists engineers with monitoring a dam’s overall performance. This new system automatically logs data readings and streamlines the data collection process for R. D. Bailey’s piezometers. The R. D.   • St. Augustine Beach renourishment schedule update

    Dredging for the St. Augustine Beach renourishment project will not start for a few days due to rough seas and is now scheduled to kick-off December 21. The contractor will also temporarily suspend dredging operations December 23-27 for the holiday, and the evening of December 31 for the Beach Blast event.

    A draft environmental assessment for a proposal to replace the existing wastewater treatment facility for Dakota City, Nebraska is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of constructing a new facility along with an associated outfall structure adjacent to the west bank of the Missouri River between river miles 724.75 and 724.25. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than Jan. 10, 2018.
