• Corps issues reminder for Greers Ferry Lake Master Plan comment period

    HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. -- The Army Corps of Engineers is reminding anyone interested in the Greers Ferry Lake Master Plan revision process concerning land classifications around the lake to submit their comments by Oct. 13.
  • Road Maintenance and Repairs at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake will continue routine road maintenance and resurfacing work at various locations. These closures are necessary to provide public safety while work crews are on-site, all work is scheduled to be completed by October 31. During this timeframe expect intermittent closures as areas are prepared and maintenance is completed.
  • Crappie Masters Tournament Trail at Dam East Boat Ramp

    CARLYLE LAKE – The Crappie Masters Tournament Trail in coordination with the FishHouse Restaurant will be hosting a crappie tournament on Saturday, October 14 and Sunday October 15 at the Dam East Boat Ramp. To accommodate the event and provide public safety and support, the Dam East Boat Ramp and High Water Ramp will be temporarily closed for public boat launching from Friday, October 13, through Sunday, October 15, 2017. During this timeframe, visitors should use the boat ramps located at the Dam West and Coles Creek Recreation Areas. In addition, the east portion of the Saddle Dam II Roadway and the south portion of the Dam East Recreation Area road (formerly South Shore) will be closed from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. to provide public safety during a 5K race. During this timeframe all traffic must access the area from the west through the McNair entrance.

    Pittsburgh District’s East Branch Lake team extracted a fossil from the lakes shoreline, Oct. 5.
  • Boat ramp at East Tailrace Recreation Area temporarily closed

    The boat ramp at the East Tailrace Recreation Area downstream of the Garrison Dam will be temporarily closed on Oct.10-12.
  • Governor Scott tours Herbert Hoover Dike at Lake Okeechobee

    CLEWISTON, Fla. (Oct. 9, 2017) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District commander, Col. Jason Kirk welcomed Florida Governor Rick Scott to the Herbert Hoover Dike at Lake Okeechobee today for an update on current water levels and to see the project at the dike.
  • CORPS REMINDS LAKESIDE RESIDENTS, USERS OF REGULATIONS AT GREERS FERRY LAKE

    HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. -- Army Corps of Engineers officials ask those living near the lake to avoid unauthorized work on public property. They also remind lake users and landowners adjacent to Greers Ferry Lake that tying up boats along the shoreline and operating vehicles off authorized roadways on public property is prohibited.
  • Gavins Point releases reduced to lessen downstream flooding; public meetings set for mid-October

    Gavins Point releases were reduced from 31,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 26,000 cfs to lessen downstream flooding. Heavy rainfall in the lower Missouri Basin resulted in increased tributary flows below the Missouri River Mainstem Reservoir System (System). Gavins Point releases will be increased back to 31,000 cfs as downstream flows recede. Fort Randall releases were reduced to as low as 19,500 cfs to limit the rise of the Gavins Point reservoir level, which was impacted by high runoff from localized rain and reduced releases.

  • Army Corps to hold public meeting for F.E. Walter Dam recreation plan

    PHILADELPHIA (October 10, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District will host a public meeting to review the 2017 Francis E. Walter Dam recreation plan and solicit feedback for next year’s plan. The meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the White Haven Area Community Library at 121 Towanda St, White Haven, PA 18661. Organizational leadership is encouraged to attend and provide recommendations and feedback.
