    CORPS THANKS VOLUNTEERS, BUSINESSES FOR CLEAN UP HELP

    PIEDMONT, Mo. -- The Army Corps of Engineers, Clearwater Lake Project Office employees in partnership with the League of Water Shed Guardians, the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and area volunteers spent Oct. 14-15, collecting nearly 70 cubic yards of trash from along the banks of a 6-mile stretch of the lower Black River below Clearwater Dam.

    Corps to Host Meramec Flood Risk Reduction Workshops

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, in partnership with the St. Louis County Council and the City of Eureka will host two public workshops on Meramec Flood Risk Reduction on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center, 11715 Cragwold Road, Kirkwood, Mo., from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Eureka Fire District Training Center, 18765 Old Hwy 66, Pacific, Mo., 63069, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

    Banner year for Formerly Used Defense Sites Program

    WASHINGTON, D.C. -- It has been a banner year for the Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) program. The program, which restores environmental conditions at sites formerly used by the Department of Defense to build and defend our Nation, successfully obligated 100 percent of its authorized $243.1 million budget and met all major milestones for fiscal year 2017, advancing cleanup efforts across the country.

    McConnell holds ribbon cutting for $267 million in KC-46A facilities

    MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. — McConnell held a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. to signify completing the preparation for the arrival of the KC-46A Pegasus. After three years, 16 projects, more than 23 million pounds of steel and $267 million, McConnell stands ready to accept the KC-46A and pave the way for the future of air refueling. The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, oversaw the construction and contracting.

    Improved infrastructure at Wiley Park to be installed Friday

    You may have noticed some recent changes to Wiley Park, a small recreation area and boat ramp on the South Santiam River below Foster Dam and Reservoir, near Sweet Home, Oregon. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has removed an old and deteriorating restroom and is replacing it with a more efficient, vault-style toilet that will be easier and less expensive to maintain.
