    Arkabutla Lake Hosts Youth Waterfowl Hunt

    Vicksburg, Miss…Arkabutla Lake of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks partnered to host the 13th Annual Youth Waterfowl Hunt held January 27, 2018 and February 3, 2018. The two-day hunt, opened for youth 10-15 years of age, was an opportunity for more experienced hunters to teach the younger hunters proper techniques and ethics of the sport.

    Corps targeting applicants for spring turkey hunts at Thurmond

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host two turkey hunts in the Bussey Point Management Area in the spring of 2018. The management area will be opened to all hunters on Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31. On Saturday, April 7 the Corps will host a youth hunt. Hunts will be limited to 10 individuals daily. Hunters who are selected may bring a guide or guest. The guest will not be allowed to carry a weapon.

    Memphis District Commander serving on state water steering committee

    With an eye on water resource issues both near term and out to the year 2040, Tennessee leaders headed by Gov. Bill Haslam, recently created the Tennessee Water Plan, or TN H2O. Memphis District Commander Col. Mike Ellicott is on the steering committee, and Hydraulics and Hydrology (H&H) Branch Chief Dave Berretta is a member of the groundwater working group.

    High Water Releases at Sutton Dam

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Recent rains that brought flooding to parts of West Virginia have caused officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to release over 8,000 cubic feet of water (cfs) from Sutton Dam in Sutton, W.Va. This is the highest outflow since March 2015.
