Swimming beach open at W.P. Franklin South Recreation Area
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District has reopened the swimming beach at W.P. Franklin South Recreation Area on the Caloosahatchee River. The swimming beach on the Caloosahatchee River near Olga was closed temporarily due to elevated levels of E. coli bacteria. Recent test results indicate that the water quality at the swimming beach meets the safety criteria recommended by the Florida Department of Health and the area is safe for waders and swimmers. The public is welcome to enjoy the beach and many other amenities available at the recreation area.

Corps of Engineers releases McCook Levee Draft Integrated Feasibility Report, Environmental Assessment for public comment
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District released for public comment the McCook Levee Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment. The draft report provides a recommended plan to address flood risk in the Villages of McCook, Lyons, and Summit, Ill.

2018 WV FUDS Forum & WV Maneuver Area Site Visit
On 19-April the Huntington District FUDS PDT conducted the annual West Virginia FUDS Forum at the Seneca Rocks Discovery Center. Representing LRH were personnel from Project Management and HTRW Section, and from the LRL Office of Counsel. Other attendees included reps from WV Department of Environmental Protection, and the host US Forest Service. Representatives from USEPA and LRL's Projects and Program Management Division participated by conference call.

Corps of Engineers commemorates two projects in Port Clinton area
Buffalo, New York--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District will host a Project Partnership Agreement signing ceremony celebrating a coastal wetland restoration project in Port Clinton, as well as a “pipe signing” ceremony to acknowledge a sanitation project already underway, both Thursday.

USACE to receive $50 million from state for dike repairs

CORPS LIFTS SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR ARKANSAS RIVER
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers has lifted the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. Even though flows have receded below that threshold, Corps officials urge boaters to always use caution when on the river.
