• Repair Work at Columbia to Continue into 2019

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Vicksburg District briefed industry partners, as well as local, state and federal officials, Nov. 30 on the current status of emergency repairs on Columbia Lock and Dam, which is located on the Ouachita River approximately seven miles upstream of Columbia, Louisiana.

    SMITHVILLE, Mo.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites the public to Smithville Lake’s 24th Annual Eagle Days in Smithville, Mo., Jan. 5 and 6, 2019. The two-day event is highlighted by live predatory bird programs hosted by Operation Wildlife on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2 p.m. at the Paradise Pointe Golf Course Complex. Several other vendors will participate Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m.to 3:30 p.m. Eagle viewing stations with spotting scopes and agency personnel will be available to help visitor's view live eagles in the wild.
  • Skokomish River Basin Restoration Project receives $13.6 million Corps funding

    Seattle District received $13.6 million in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fiscal 2019 Work Plan to complete the Skokomish River Basin Ecosystem Restoration Project design and construction phases. This project plan provides restoration on a total of 277 acres including habitat critical for Endangered Species Act (ESA)-listed chinook and chum salmon, key food sources for southern resident orca whales.

  • Boundary Maintenance Work at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake will be performing boundary maintenance work from December 10, 2018 through January 18, 2019 on multiple sections of the boundary line at Carlyle Lake. The boundary line maintenance work will consist of uniformed Park Rangers and volunteers walking the boundary lines, replacing signposts, identifying encroachments on government property, inspecting mowing permits, and clearing brush along the boundary line. The maintenance work is performed annually during the winter months when vegetation is at a minimum. Maintenance is necessary in order to maintain a visible boundary line and to protect the public lands at Carlyle Lake. The area of emphasis for the 2018-19 boundary maintenance will be the southern portion of the Carlyle Lake Project.
