    Corps and Texas General Land Office to host public forums for public, media, and elected officials

    GALVESTON, Texas (December 10, 2018)− The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Texas General Land office will host five public events over the next week regarding the Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Study.

    Public meeting scheduled in Denver for update on Cherry Creek Dam Safety Modification Study and associated spillway activities

    The Omaha District will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. to provide an update on the Cherry Creek Dam Safety Modification Study and seek public input on necessary maintenance activities within the spillway that were identified as part of the dam safety study. The meeting will be held at the Lake House at Cherry Creek, 4800 South Dayton Street, Greenwood Village, Colorado. The location for the public meeting is inside the State Park but there will be no park entrance fees for attendees of the meeting.

    Over 225 residents attend Rio Guayanilla, Puerto Rico public meeting

    More than 225 people attended a public scoping meeting in Puerto Rico Nov. 28, 2018, for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Rio Guayanilla feasibility study. The meeting, hosted by the USACE Chicago District, was held in collaboration with the Corps’ Jacksonville District, the study's nonfederal sponsor; the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, and the Town of Guayanilla.

    Corps’ contractors to complete first debris pickup in Dougherty County Dec. 7, begin second pass Dec. 15

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – By the end of Dec. 7, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, working with local government officials, will complete the first pass picking up debris generated by Hurricane Michael in Dougherty County, Ga. In anticipation of the second pass, residents should place any storm-generated debris along the side of the roadway before the morning of the county's scheduled start date for the second and final pass.

    Corps awards Horseshoe Cove dredging contract

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District awarded a $2,067,025 contract Dec. 6 to dredge shoal material from Horseshoe Cove and the turning basin. The dredging will return this area to its authorized depth of six feet, with one foot of allowable over-depth.
