    MKARNS - Starting Monday, June 17, 2019, the Colonel Charles D. Maynard Lock (No. 5), the David D. Terry Lock and Dam (No. 6) and Murray Lock (No. 7) NM 125.4 will reopen to navigation traffic.
  • Corps recommends caution on newly reopened Missouri River

    With the U.S. Coast Guard issuing Marine Safety Bulletin – MISB #01-19, Update #11 – opening the Missouri River for navigation from the mouth at St. Louis to Sioux City, Iowa – the Kansas City District urges caution to both commercial and recreational boaters. The Coast Guard recommends against boating in these conditions with the river still in moderate to major flood stages.
  • Notice of Norfolk District mosquito spraying date modification

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the city of Portsmouth, Virginia, are slated to conduct joint aerial mosquito spraying over federal properties June 22. If conditions do not allow for treatment Saturday, another date will be tentatively scheduled.

    TICHNOR, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers, Pine Bluff Site Office has temporarily closed roadways and facilities below Wilbur D. Mills Dam until further notice because of a high voltage transmission tower that became unstable during the recent flooding event.

  • Dog Show Planned at Lake Shelbyville

    For Immediate Release: 14 June 2019 Release No.: 19-21 Dog Show Planned at Lake Shelbyville Lake Shelbyville – The 25th annual Dog Days of Summer Dog Show is scheduled for Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Forrest W. “Bo” Wood Campground. Participants may enter their dogs in the following categories: Best Trick, Best Dressed, Smallest Dog, Biggest Dog, and Most Precious Puppy. There will be prizes awarded to the winners of each category. Owners may enter multiple dogs, but only one dog per owner is allowed in each category. All dogs must be kept on a leach no longer than six feet in length while at the show and in any recreation area at Lake Shelbyville. This leash regulation helps ensure the safety of both animals and people. Any dogs present must be up to date on all of their vaccines. Dog Days will take place at the Bo Wood Campground Amphitheater (1060 CR 1025 North, Sullivan, IL 61951). Please note that the location has changed from Coon Creek Campground where it has been held in the past. Registration begins at 5:30PM, and the show begins at 6:00PM.   • Corps completes breach closure on levee L594-B southwest of Bartlett, Iowa

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District completed an initial breach closure on levee L594-B, an inlet breach near Bartlett, Iowa Thursday. Completion of final construction activities, i.e. surfacing, seeding, etc. is anticipated by early next week.
  • BUFORD DAM ROAD, PARK AREAS TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Lake Sidney Lanier recreation site announces that Buford Dam Road as well as park areas with entrances inside the general work area will be closed for roadway maintenance on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 9:00 a.m until 5:30 p.m.
