    CORPS LIFTS SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR MOST OF ARKANSAS RIVER

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers has lifted the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River from the Arkansas-Oklahoma state-line to Sanders Lock and Dam in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second.

    Corps awards Intracoastal Waterway, Matanzas dredging contract

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a maintenance dredging contract today (July 29, 2019) for portions of the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) in St. Johns and Flagler counties. The Corps awarded the $5,898,389.00 small business set aside contract to Southwind Construction Corporation of Evansville, Indiana.

    The new supercomputer will initially be based at the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Developmental Command Army Research Laboratory DOD Supercomputing Resource Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

    Bio-acoustic fish fence expected to be operational this fall

    GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (July 30, 2019) – An experimental project designed to deter Asian carp from entering Lake Barkley is underway. Officials addressed stakeholders and media today on the deployment of the bio-acoustic fish fence on the downstream side of the navigation lock and evaluation of the system’s ability to deter the movement of these fish.

    Corps finalizes the Adams & Denver Counties, Colorado General Investigation Study

    Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Commanding General and 54th U.S. Army Chief of Engineers, signed the recommended plan to implement flood risk management solutions along Weir Gulch and Harvard Gulch in Adams and Denver County, Colorado, and restore aquatic, wetland, and riparian habitat along the South Platte River.

    Potential Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) concern at Leesville and Atwood Lakes

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has determined that conditions exist in the outlet works area at Leesville Lakes in Bowerston, Ohio, and Atwood Lake in Mineral City, Ohio, that could result in the presence and possible release of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gases.

    USACE Buffalo District begins repairs to the Buffalo south breakwater

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District began repairs to 625 feet out of the 1,000 feet of critical repair area of the Buffalo south breakwater located in the Buffalo Harbor, in the City of Buffalo, Erie County, New York on July 26, 2019. Site work is expected to start in 2019 with anticipated completion in 2020.
