    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers moves to eradicate invasive species

    Since the discovery of zebra mussels at the South Dakota Big Bend powerhouse intake gates in the summer of 2019, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has conducted an internal analysis of the potential alternatives to control the invasive species.

  • Portion of spillway parking area closed during fiber optic replacement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District has announced that a portion of the parking area on the north side of the Gavins Point Dam spillway, near Yankton, S.D., will be closed beginning Monday, Nov. 30. Vehicles and pedestrians will be prohibited in the area during the closure.
  • Gavins Point Dam spillway gate to undergo maintenance, some impact on anglers during paddlefish season expected

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announced Friday that spillway gate maintenance will take place on Gavins Point Dam through Oct. 16, which may impact anglers in the area for paddlefish season.
  • Releases from Fort Peck Dam to decline during maintenance work

    Releases from Fort Peck Dam will be reduced from 11,000 cubic feet per second to 8,500 cfs on July 28 and then increase slightly to 9,000 cfs on July 29. A Power Plant maintenance project originally scheduled for June was rescheduled for late July. The project will require outages on Units 1, 2, and 3 to support testing on Unit 2.
  • No thru traffic on Crest Road July 9

    The spillway and powerplant road across Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota, will be closed from 9 a.m. through 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, for maintenance. This will prohibit thru traffic on the road that crosses Gavins Point Dam, also known as Crest Road. People are asked to take alternate routes during the closure.

    The spillway and intake deck on the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota will be closed from 1-3 p.m., Tuesday, May 19. This will prohibit through traffic on the road that crosses Gavins Point Dam, also known as the Crest Road.
  • Crest Road closing Tuesday

    The road that crosses Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota, also known as Crest Road, will be closed Tuesday, May 5 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. for road maintenance. People are asked to plan on taking alternate routes during the closure.
