In the daily ACF roll up brief from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Javits Center in New York, NY; the TCF Center in Chicago and the Missouri ACF in Florissant, MO are all listed at 100% complete. Construction is underway on 18 additional locations for a total of 21 alternate care sites. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is working in support of the FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency - and in coordination with other federal, state, local and tribal partners – in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Corps Starts Construction of 450-Bed Alternate Care Facility at Miami Beach Convention Center
The governor of Florida and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) commanding general met with county and city leaders in Miami Beach Wednesday to discuss construction of an alternate care facility in the Miami Beach Convention Center. Lt. Gen. Todd Semonite, USACE Commanding General and 54th Chief of Engineers, joined Gov. Ron DeSantis, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber on a tour of the 500,000 square foot facility that the Army Corps of Engineers began transforming into a 450-bed alternate care facility Tuesday.

MEMORANDUM FOR All Alaska District Contractors
1. Effective immediately and in accordance with the latest Secretary of Defense guidance regarding protective measures to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, all individuals on DoD property, installations, and facilities will wear cloth face coverings when they cannot maintain six feet of social distance in public areas or work centers. This includes all military personnel, civilian employees, family members, contractors, and all other individuals on DoD property, installations, and facilities.

The new locations will be in Queens, NY; Bronx, NY; Staten Island, NY, and Albuquerque, NM. The contracts were issued on Friday and Saturday. USACE has completed 756 assessments of possible locations for alternate care sites. Corps of Engineers updates preventative measures in place for COVID-19 at West Hill Dam in Uxbridge, Northbridge
In accordance with the US Army Corps of Engineers policies and procedures, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) Stay-At-Home and Safe Practices Advisory, and the following COVID-19 measures continue at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, West Hill Dam, Uxbridge, Mass., effective April 7, 2020. Parking Lots and recreation facilities, playgrounds, public restrooms and trash receptacles, are closed to the public until further notice.

Thurmond closes 3 more boat ramps due to corona virus
SAVANNAH, Ga. – Officials at J. Strom Thurmond Lake have closed an additional three boat ramps in cooperation with local law enforcement to help achieve the national individual distancing standards set by the government. Officials previously closed the visitors center and all restrooms, campgrounds and day-use areas (and boat ramps inside those areas) at the reservoir.

Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has assembled field assessment teams tasked with evaluating existing sites for the possible conversion into alternate-care-facilities in Texas. The Corps’ teams, at the request of FEMA and the State of Texas, are evaluating facilities across the state. They are working closely with FEMA, state and local partners to best facilitate a quick response should the need arise to have additional alternate-care-facilities constructed.
