  • Kansas City District 2023 LDP Kick-off: understanding to support

    A group of 12 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District employees embarked on a four-day training exercise that served as the Kansas City District 2023 Leadership Development Program, or LDP, kick-off event at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri on Oct. 3, 2022. LDP is a program for Department of the Army civilians run by all USACE districts, and each district conducts their program differently. The Kansas City District conducts a year-long program that offers DA civilians the chance to grow.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, the State of Missouri, and the Brunswick-Dalton Drainage District partnered to sign a Feasibility Cost Share Agreement for a feasibility study on the Brunswick / Left Bank, River Mile 246 area on Sept. 28, 2022, in Brunswick, Missouri.

    Brandon Meinert, an advanced modeling manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Kansas City District, was recognized Sept. 15 as a graduate of U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) six-month detail program, known as ERDC University (ERDC-U).

    Two U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District employees recently graduated from a six-month program called ERDC University on Sept. 15, 2022, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, through the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center. Jesseca Alexander, Kansas City District civil engineer, and Brandon Meinert, Kansas City District building information modeling program manager, were two of six graduates from the program.

  • USACE and Missouri Dept. of Natural Resources sign agreement to begin aquatic ecosystem restoration on Osage River

    On May 13, 2022, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources signed an agreement to begin aquatic ecosystem restoration on the Osage River near Brockman Springs Road. This agreement is under Section 1135 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1986. The feasibility, design and implementation phases will be completed over the next five years.

    Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Administrative Assistant Lolita Law has been through her fair share of challenges. She believes those challenges shaped her into the mother, wife, professional and woman she is today. “I’ve had a lot of things happen to me that probably could have stopped me from getting where I am today, but I surrounded myself with people who could show me that there is another way,” Law said. As part of Women’s History Month 2022, the Kansas City District is telling unique stories about female team members who have made a name for themselves and continue to make a difference in the world.

  • Air Force and USACE break ground for new vehicle maintenance facility at Whiteman Air Force Base

    A group of Air Force and Army leaders joined with construction professionals to mark the groundbreaking for the new vehicle maintenance facility at Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Noster, Mo., Feb. 16, 2022. With airmen and civilians providing maintenance for the growing fleet of support vehicles at the base in facilities – some constructed during the build up to World War II – the Air Force funded the new consolidated facility which will greatly increase safety and efficiency. The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, serve as the construction agent for this military construction project. L.S. Black Constructors, of Saint Paul, Minn., is the prime contractor.
