  • Senior Pass Price Increase

    Beginning August 28, 2017, the price of the Lifetime Senior Pass (currently $10) will increase to $80. A new Annual Senior Pass is also available for $20. Previously purchased lifetime Golden Age or Senior Passes will be honored for the lifetime of the pass holder.

  • Life Jackets Worn…Nobody Mourns

    More public recreation fatalities occur in July than any other month, so the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) asks you to please play it safe while on, in, or near the water because drowning is a leading cause of death this time of year. USACE public recreation fatality statistics show that 88 percent were male, 89 percent were not wearing a life jacket, and 47 percent were swimming in areas not designated as a swimming area.

  • Corps releases revised environmental report for Folsom Dam Raise project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District and Central Valley Flood Protection Board are recirculating for review a draft environmental impact statement/environmental impact report for the Folsom Dam Raise Project. The report was initially released in July 2016; however, it is being be recirculated for a second public review and comment period due to significant changes made since then.

  • Baltimore District provides funding outlook for projects

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has announced the list of projects that will receive funding this fiscal year, as outlined in the fiscal 2017 work plan for the Army Civil Works program released May 24. Baltimore District is also sharing the projects included in the fiscal 2018 President’s Budget for Civil Works released May 23.

  • Folsom Dam Auxiliary Spillway recognized as Outstanding Water Project

    The American Society of Civil Engineers California Region recognized the Folsom Dam auxiliary spillway project as the state’s Outstanding Water Project for 2016 at an awards ceremony held in Los Angeles last month. The honor specifically highlights construction of the auxiliary spillway’s control structure. The structure, basically a second dam, will complement the functions of Folsom’s existing dam by allowing water to be released earlier and more safely from the reservoir during a high water event.

  • Public hearing for Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway project

    The hearing was requested as a result of the public review period (December 7, 2016 through February 7, 2017) of a Public Notice announcing the Corps’ consideration of a permit application under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act for proposed discharges in Waters of the United States associated with the project.

(Feb. 28, 2017) – To gain a better perspective of the nation’s aging infrastructure on America’s waterways the senior official performing duties of secretary of the Army for Civil Works toured Chickamauga Lock today to realize the challenges of keeping a deteriorated lock open while racing against time to construct a replacement lock.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. (Nov. 9, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District joined the cities of Bristol, Virginia and Tennessee along with the Tennessee Valley Authority to celebrate the completion of the Beaver Creek Flood Reduction Project during a ceremony today at Jerry Good pasture Plaza in Bristol, Tenn.
