    This next builder of the care facility really stood out to me – and it wasn’t the side by side braids either. It was her presence. Have you ever just met someone who gives off a certain type of aura or energy that makes you feel a little more calm or at ease? This person had it. Here from St. Joseph, Missouri, her name is Jonna Henry, and she works for a subcontractor in Safety. I guess her occupation explains that aura I felt earlier.

  • Free camping for tree planting

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites volunteers to celebrate National Public Lands Day by planting trees and shrubs at Schwarz Campground below Dorena Dam, Saturday, Sept. 30. The event supports the nation’s largest single-day volunteer restoration effort for America’s public lands. Scouts, youth groups, civic clubs, families and individuals are encouraged to participate in the event.
  • Steel De Fleury Medal Presented

    At the annual Organization Day Picnic and Awards Ceremony Colonel Secrist awarded the Steel De Fluery Medal to Sekia M. Dalton, Brandon Scott, John Johnson and Ronald S. Payne for their outstanding contributions to the Huntington District and the Engineer Regiment.

    During the USACE Logistics Workshop held in Millington TN, the Huntington District, Logistics Management Office (LMO) was one of three logistics offices across USACE to be presented with the USACE Logistics Activity, Excellence in Logistics-Level II Award.
  • District names latest distinguished civilian employees

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District inducted two retired employees into its Gallery of Distinguished Civilian Employees in a ceremony at the District headquarters in Los Angeles March 23.
  • Team supporting Veterans Affairs receives 2015 USACE Excellence in Contracting Award

    The Aurora Veterans Affairs Hospital Replacement Alpha Contract Team was named the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ 2015 Procurement Team of the Year in the Excellence in Contracting Awards Program. The nucleus of the team included employees from USACE’s Omaha District and the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville.
  • Veterans Day Parade

    The Veterans Committee for Civic Improvement of Huntington, an organization of 14 veterans organization in the Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia Tri-State area presented its annual Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony. Colonel Secrist was both the Parade Marshall and the featured speaker.

    Amidst the tall ships’ cannon battle and sword fights at Marina del Rey April 10, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers helped celebrate a 50th Birthday Bash.
