  • Corps urges boaters to use caution on Okeechobee Waterway

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District is advising boaters on Lake Okeechobee that the low water level is now creating hazardous navigation conditions. The Corps issued a Notice to Navigation on Thursday (May 25), advising commercial and recreational vessels to use extreme caution while traveling Okeechobee Waterway Routes 1 and 2 between Port Mayaca and Clewiston. Route 1 goes directly across the lake, while Route 2 runs along the southern edge of the lake through Pahokee, Belle Glade, South Bay, and Clewiston.

    OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (May 24, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is offering public access to Old Hickory Navigation Lock located at Cumberland River mile 216.2. The lock will be accessible to visitors seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May 26 until Sept. 8, 2017.

The lock viewing area is open to visitors seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May 26 until Sept. 8, 2017.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District is alerting mariners that scheduled repairs at Monongahela River Lock and Dam 4 at Charleroi will close the river to navigation from 12 a.m., May 15 through 11:59 p.m., June 16.

  • Waterway groups gather for first LockFest!

    The Pittsburgh District and its waterways partners are hosting the first ever water safety LockFest 2017. At the event, attendees will learn how to lock through navigation facilities and watch live locking demonstrations, discover water safety tips, talk to tow operators, brush up on boating regulations, and gain knowledge on how to navigate our rivers safely. Bobber, the Water Safety Dog will attend and exhibits from our partners will be available.

  • USACE Galveston District awards small business contract for routine testing of dredged material

    GALVESTON, Texas (April 24, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a five-year Environmental Services Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract to ANAMAR Environmental Consulting Inc., a woman-owned small business, in the amount of $7,000,000 for dredged material evaluation to include collection and analyses of water and sediment samples from the federally-maintained navigation channels and off-shore dredge material disposal sites.
